The MD iMAP Topography Viewer (https://geodata.md.gov/topoviewer/) is a truly interesting Website maintained by the State of Maryland. You can select the Howard County shaded relief data layer to see the impressions that the many quarries left in our area, including the very impressive Savage Stone quarry. There is also an Elevation Layer Transparency tool with a slider bar that allows you to overlay the topography information with other maps. You can see the stream channels, outlines of quarries, and many other features.
This Website displays the LIDAR ( Light Detection and Ranging) remote sensing data to show changes in land elevations (https://www.usgs.gov/core-science-systems/ngp/3dep). I have used this Viewer to find and confirm some quarry locations and you can view any area in Howard County, or even Maryland. I have provided some images from the Topography Viewer but it seems they have updated the imagery and it is even more granular than ever. Check it out!
